Mark Kerry
LOOK OUT/OUT LOOK
Mark Kerry grew up in Portland, Oregon, the son of a junkyard sculpture artist (mom) and a schoolteacher (dad). His first camera was a vintage Polaroid OneStep given to him by his grandfather for his eighth birthday. To this day, the striking, saturated colors of instant cameras inform Mark’s work. In his junior year as a photography major at the Rhode Island School of Design, Mark won the prestigious Roland Persey Photography Award for his piece, “Hoarse Horse, Of Coarse.”
When he’s not taking pictures, Mark can often be found strumming his homemade cigar box guitars and singing the blues. He lives in Koreatown, Los Angeles, and sends his mom regular shipments of the trash picks he finds on the street right outside of his apartment.
